1. World Population Day: 11 July

World Population day is an annual event, observed on July 11 every year, which seeks to raise awareness of global population issues.

• The event was established by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme in 1989.
• World Population Day 2018 observes the theme, "Family planning is a human right."

2. India climbs 3 spots to 57th in global innovation rankings

The Global Innovation Index (GII) has ranked India as the 57thmost innovative nation in the world.

• The country has improved its ranking from 60th position last year.
• India has been improving steadily since it was ranked 81st in 2015.
• Switzerland ranked for 8th straight year.

3. Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu becomes first Chairman of Rajya Sabha to sign an MOU

Rajya Sabha has, for the first time in 76 years since it came into being, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a foreign counterpart for promoting inter-parliamentary dialogue.

• Shri Venkaiah Naidu, has, in the process, become the first Chairman of Rajya Sabha to sign such an agreement when he inked an MOU with the visiting President of the Senate of the Republic of Rwanda, Mr. Bernard Makuza.
• The MOU with 6 articles of cooperation seeks to promote Inter-Parliamentary dialogue, Capacity building of parliamentary staff, Organisation of conferences, forums, seminars, staff attachment programmes, workshops and exchanges, Collaboration in mutual interest in regional and international multilateral parliamentary bodies in furtherance of bilateral relations and friendship between the two countries.

4. 4th National Conclave on Mines and Minerals

The 4th National Conclave on Mines & Minerals will be held on 13th July, 2018 at Indorefor showcasing blocks which will be auctioned by the states in FY 2018-19 to the potential investors.

• Union Minister for Mines Shri Narendra Singh Tomar said that it will carry forward the efforts of the Government for strengthening the mineral auction regime as well as help in expediting auctions and bring in greater participation from the stakeholders.

5. Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Haryana Top Rankers in Ease of Doing Business

Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, released the final rankings of States in Ease of Doing Business in New Delhi.

• The top rankers are Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Haryana. Jharkhand and Gujarat stood fourth and fifth respectively.
• DIPP, Ministry of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the World Bank conducted an annual reform exercise for all States and UTs under the Business Reform Action Plan (BRAP).
• The aim of this exercise is to improve delivery of various Central Government regulatory functions and services in an efficient, effective and transparent manner.
• Rajasthan has slipped by one spot in the ease of doing business rankings to 9th position.

6. Shri Ananthkumar inaugurates CIPET: Centre for Skilling & Technical Support (CSTS)

Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Ananthkumar inaugurated the CIPET:  Centre for Skilling & Technical Support (CSTS) at ITI Building and laid the foundation stone of new Central Institute of Plastics Engineering &Technology (CIPET) Building at Doiwala, Dehradun.

• Other dignitaries who graced the event as guests of honour included Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat, and Member of Parliament, Haridwar, Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.
• CIPET: CSTS, Dehradun is the 32nd CIPET centre in the country.

7. India-Korea Technology Exchange Centre Inaugurated

The India-Korea Technology Exchange Centre was Inaugurated by the Minister of State (I/C) MSME Giriraj Singh and Minister of SMEs and Start-ups of Republic of Korea, Hong Jong- hak in New Delhi.

• Speaking on this occasion,Giriraj Singh said that the purpose of the Technology Exchange Centre is to create a platform for micro, small and medium enterprises of India and Korea where they can be assisted to identify and exchange latest technologies, share management expertise, product development and technology applications for product development.
• The MSME Minister further said that the Technology Centre will also work towards building reliable alliances in Space, Solar Energy, Nano technologies and some other upcoming technologies.
• He said that a number of Korean organizations have showed keen interest to initiate technology transfers in MSME sectors between the two countries and this Centre will provide them reliable partners for effecting   business alliances.

8. Microsoft signs MoU with Raj govt for digital training to 9,500 students

Microsoft has signed an MoU with the Rajasthan government to provide free digital training to 9,500 college students in one year.

• The initiative was taken for the enhancement of digital learning and capacity building of college students in the state.
• The state few months back had signed MoU with IGNOU for nearly two dozen courses on skill development.

9. T Latha appointed new MD & CEO of Dhanlaxmi Bank

Dhanlaxmi Bank Limited has appointed T Latha as the Managing Director & CEO.

• She has taken over from G Sreeram, who has retired from the office on July 1, 2018, on completion of his tenure.
• Her appointment will be for a period of three years w.e.f July 2, 2018.

10. Vice President Releases the book ‘Two Classical Plays from India’

 

The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has said that there is a need to revive Theatre and make it a prominent form of education and entertainment.

• He was addressing the gathering after releasing the book ‘Two Classical Plays from India’, an English translation of Hindi plays written by well-known playwright Shri D.P. Sinha.

1. UNESCO to set up Gaming University in Andhra Pradesh

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) will be setting up a 'Design University for Gaming' in Visakhapatnam.

• UNESCO delegation entered into an agreement with Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) for the establishment of 'Gaming Digital Learning Hub'.
• The UNESCO delegation asked the Chief Minister for an allocation of 100 acres of land in Visakhapatnam.

2. Railways approves digital Aadhaar and Driving Licence from Digital Locker as proof of identity

The issue regarding accepting Aadhaar and Driving Licence as valid proof of identity when presented from digital locker account of the passenger has been examined by Ministry of Railways and it has been decided that while undertaking journey in a train, if a passenger shows the Aadhaar/Driving Licence from the ‘Issued Documents’ section by logging into his/her DigiLocker account, the same should be considered as valid proof of identity.

• It is, however, clarified that the documents uploaded by the user himself/herself (i.e. the documents in ‘Uploaded Documents’ section) will not be considered as a valid proof of identity.

3. First meeting of e-Commerce Task Force held

Commerce Secretary, Rita Teaotia, chaired the first meeting of the Task Force on e-commerce in New Delhi.

• The meeting deliberated upon the suggestions emerging from the sub-group meetings held during 20th – 22nd June, 2018.
• The suggestions were on wide ranging issues such as cross border data flows, taxation, trade facilitation and logistics, consumer confidence, IPR and future tech, FDI and competition issues.
• The sub-groups saw participation from various ministries and departments, high level representatives from the industry bodies, e-commerce companies, telecommunication and IT companies and independent experts.

4. Union Home Minister chairs MHA Consultative Committee meeting

The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh said that the Government was committed to strengthen and smoothen the twin processes of Immigration and Visa for the Indian citizens and foreigners.

• He was addressing the Parliamentary Consultative Committee meeting on Immigration Visa Foreigners’ Registration & Tracking (IVFRT) at Kochi in Kerala.
• On November 27, 2014 the Government launched e-Tourist Visa scheme in 44 countries. This e-Visa facility has now been extended to 165 countries.

5. Civil aviation research centre to come up in Hyderabad

A Rs 250-crore Civil Aviation Research Organisation (CARO) will come up within 18 months at Begumpet in Hyderabad.

• Laying the foundation stone for the CARO project to be implemented under the Airports Authority of India, Union Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu said the focus of the centre will be on pursuing inter-disciplinary solutions to improve the civil aviation sector.
• The Minister said, “The country’s civil aviation sector is growing at a hectic pace of over 20 per cent and we expect this growth momentum to continue.

6. HDFC Bank most valuable bank in the emerging market outside China

HDFC Bank has gone past Russia's Sberbank to become the most valuable bank in the emerging market outside China.

• HDFC Bank’s current market capitalisation is $78.4 billion against Sberbank's $74.4 billion.
• There are four lenders from India that now rank among the world's 500 most valuable companies.
• HDFC Bank is followed by Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC), Kotak Mahindra Bank and State Bank of India.

7. RIL becomes India's largest tax payer in private sector

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani said that Reliance is India's largest payer of Goods and Services Tax (GST), Excise and Customs Duty, and Income Tax in the private sector.

• Speaking at the Reliance Industries' 41st Annual General Meeting, Mukesh Ambani highlighted that Jio's subscribers grew from 124 million at the end of last year to 210 million at the end of FY18.

8. BHEL to partner Ukraine's Zorya for overhaul of warship turbines

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) is setting up a joint venture (JV) in India with the Ukrainian manufacturer, Zorya Mashproekt, to overhaul turbines in India.

• The navy will soon have 34 warships driven by Zorya turbines, with four turbines per vessel, adding up to 136 in-service turbines.
• There will also be a stock of six-eight spare turbines. A turbine is overhauled after running 30,000 hours.

1. प्रवासियों और स्‍वदेश वापसी करने वाले लोगों के राहत और पुनर्वास की वृहत योजना कोमंजूरी

प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्‍द्र मोदी की अध्‍यक्षता में केन्‍द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने ‘प्रवासियों और स्‍वदेश वापसी करने वाले लोगों के राहत व पुनर्वास’ की वृहत योजना के अंतर्गत गृह मंत्रालय की 8 वर्तमान योजनाओं को मार्च, 2020 तक जारी रखने की मंजूरी दे दी है।

• 2017-18 से 2019-20 के दौरान इस उद्देश्‍य के लिए वित्‍तीय अनुमान 31,83 करोड़ रुपये होगा।
• वर्षवार वित्‍तीय अनुमान 2017-18 के लिए 911 करोड़ रुपये, 2018-19 के लिए 1372 करोड़ रुपये और 2019-20 के लिए 900 करोड़ रुपये है।
• इन योजनाओं से शरणार्थियों, विस्‍थापित लोगों आतंक/जा‍तीय हिंसा से पीडि़त तथा सीमा पार से होने वाली फायरिंग से पीडि़त और खान/आईईडी विस्‍फोट व साम्‍प्रदायिक हिंसा के पीडि़तों को राहत व पुनर्वास प्रदान किया जाएगा।

योजनाएं निम्‍न हैं:-

• पाक अधिकृत जम्‍मू कश्‍मीर (पीओजेके) से विस्‍थापित परिवारों तथा जम्‍मू कश्‍मीर राज्य में निवास कर रहे चांब के पुनर्वास के लिए एकमुश्‍त केंद्रीय सहायता।
• सीमा भूमि समझौते के अंतर्गत भारत और बांग्‍लादेश के बीच रिहायशी इलाकों के हस्‍तांतरण के पश्‍चात बांग्‍लादेशी व कूच बिहार जिले के रिहायशी इलाकों में पुनर्वास पैकेज तथा अवसंरचना का उन्‍नयन।
• तमिलनाडु और ओडिशा के कैंपों में रह रहे श्रीलंकाई शरणार्थियों को राहत सहायता।
• तिब्‍बती शरणस्‍थलों में प्रशासनिक और सामाजिक कल्‍याण के परिव्‍यय के लिए पांच वर्षों तक केंद्रीय तिब्‍बती राहत समिति (सीटीआरसी) को वित्‍तीय सहायता।
• त्रिपुरा के राहत कैंपों में रह रहे ब्रुस के रख-रखाव के लिए त्रिपुरा सरकार को वित्‍तीय सहायता।
• त्रिपुरा के ब्रुस/रियांग परिवारों का मिजोरम में पुनर्वास।
• 1984 के सिक्‍ख विरोधी दंगों के मृतकों के लिए राहत राशि को बढ़ा कर पांच लाख रुपये किया गया।
• आतंक/जा‍तीय हिंसा से पीडि़त तथा सीमा पार से होने वाली फायरिंग से पीडि़त और खान/आईईडी विस्‍फोट के पीडि़तों की सहायता के लिए केंद्रीय योजना।

2. कैबिनेट ने डीएनए प्रौद्योगिकी (उपयोग एवं अनुप्रयोग) विनियमन विधेयक-2018 को मंजूरीदी

प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्द्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में केन्द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने डीएनए प्रौद्योगिकी (उपयोग एवं अनुप्रयोग) विनियमन विधेयक-2018 को मंजूरी दे दी है।

• ‘डीएनए प्रौद्योगिकी (उपयोग एवं अनुप्रयोग) विनियमन विधेयक’ को कानून बनाए जाने के पीछे प्राथमिक उद्देश्य देश की न्यायिक प्रणाली को समर्थन देने एवं सुदृढ़ बनाने के लिए डीएनए आधारित फोरेन्सिक प्रौद्योगिकियों के अनुप्रयोग को विस्तारित करना है।
• आपराधों के समाधान एवं गुमशुदा व्यक्तियों की पहचान के लिए डीएनए आधारित प्रौद्योगिकियों की उपयोगिता दुनियाभर में स्वीकृत है।

3. मंत्रिमंडल ने त्रिपुरा के अगरतला हवाई अड्डे का नाम बदलने की मंजूरी दी

प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्‍द्र मोदी की अध्‍यक्षता में केन्‍द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने त्रिपुरा के अगरतला हवाई अड्डे का नाम बदलकर महाराजा बीर विक्रम माणिक्‍य किशोर हवाई अड्डा, अगरतला करने की मंजूरी दी।

• यह निर्णय, त्रिपुरा के लोगों की लम्‍बे समय से चली आ रही मांग तथा त्रिपुरा सरकार द्वारा महाराजा बीर विक्रम माणिक्‍य किशोर को श्रद्धांजलि देने के आलोक में लिया गया।
• महाराजा बीर विक्रम माणिक्‍य किशोर 1923 में त्रिपुरा राज्‍य के राजा बने। वे एक विद्वान और विन्रम शासक थे।
• महाराजा बीर विक्रम माणिक्‍य किशोर द्वारा दान में दिये गये जमीन पर 1942 में अगरतला हवाई अड्डे का निर्माण किया गया।

4. पियुष गोयल ने 'खान प्रहरी' ऐप लॉन्च किया

केंद्रीय रेलवे, वित्त और कॉर्पोरेट मामलों के मंत्री श्री पियुष गोयल ने सीएमपीडीआई, रांची द्वाराविकसित कोयला खान निगरानी और प्रबंधन प्रणाली (सीएमएसएमएस) और मोबाइलएप्लिकेशन 'खान प्रहरी' जारी किये।

• इस अवसर पर बोलते हुए श्री पियुष गोयल ने कहा कि आज देश में अवैध खनन एकगंभीर समस्या है, खासतौर पर उन इलाकों में जहां कोयला खनन किया जाता है।
• अवैध कोयला खनन न केवल देश के संसाधनों को नुकसान पहुंचाता है बल्कि पर्यावरणके लिए भी हानिकारक है।

5. राष्‍ट्रीय सफाई कर्मचारी आयोग में उपाध्‍यक्ष और सदस्‍य के एक-एक पद के निर्माण कोमंजूरी

प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्‍द्र मोदी की अध्‍यक्षता में केन्‍द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने राष्‍ट्रीय सफाई कर्मचारी आयोग में उपाध्‍यक्ष और सदस्‍य के एक-एक पद के निर्माण को मंजूरी दी।

• यह निर्णय, आयोग के कार्य कुशलता को बेहतर बनाने तथा लक्षित समूह के कल्‍याण और विकास के उद्देश्‍य को पूरा करने के संदर्भ में लिया गया।
• राष्‍ट्रीय सफाई कर्मचारी आयोग, सफाई कर्मचारियों तथा हाथ से सफाई करने वालों के कल्‍याण के लिए कार्य करता है।

6. क्षेत्रीय ग्रामीण बैंकों की पुनर्पूंजीकरण योजना को 2019-20 तक विस्‍तार देने की मंजूरी

प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्‍द्र मोदी की अध्‍यक्षता में केन्‍द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने क्षेत्रीय ग्रामीण बैंकों कीपुनर्पूंजीकरण योजना को अगले तीन वर्षों अर्थात् 2019-20 तक विस्‍तार देने की मंजूरी दी है।

• इसके माध्‍यम से आरआरबी को न्‍यूनतम निर्धारित पूंजी को 9 प्रतिशत के जोखिमपरिसंपत्ति अनुपात (सीआरएआर) पर बनाये रखने में सहायता मिलेगी।
• एक मजबूत पूंजीगत संरचना और सीआरएआर के न्‍यूनतम स्‍तर से आरआरबी कीवित्‍तीय स्थिरता सुनिश्चित होगी। इसके माध्‍यम से आरआरबी वित्‍तीय समावेश मेंमहत्‍वपूर्ण भूमिका अदा करने और ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों की पूंजीगत जरूरतों को पूरा करने मेंसक्षम होंगे।
• देश में 56 आरआरबी कार्यरत हैं। 31 मार्च, 2017 तक आरआरबी ने कुल 2,28,599 करोड़रुपये का ऋण दिया था।

7. बैंक ऑफ चाइना को भारत में संचालन शुरू करने के लिए भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक से लाइसेंसमिला

भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने भारत में संचालन शुरू करने के लिए बैंक ऑफ चाइना को लाइसेंस जारी किया है।

• प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने चीनी राष्ट्रपति शी जिनपिंग को पिछले महीने चीनी शहर क़िंगदाओ में एससीओ शिखर सम्मेलन के दौरान मिलने पर बैंक ऑफ चाइना को भारत में शाखाएं स्थापित करने की अनुमति देने के लिए प्रतिबद्धता जाहिर की थी।
• बैंक ऑफ चाइना चीन में बहुत कम सरकारी स्वामित्व वाले वाणिज्यिक बैंकों में से एक है।

8. वैश्विक बैंकों की 'उच्च जोखिम' सूची में 25 देश

चीन, संयुक्त अरब अमीरात, साइप्रस और महत्वपूर्ण रूप से 21 अन्य देशों के साथ मॉरीशस को विदेशी फंडों के लिए संरक्षक के रूप में कार्यरत वैश्विक बैंकों द्वारा "उच्च जोखिम वाले क्षेत्राधिकार" के रूप में टैग किया गया है, जिसमें भारतीय शेयर बाजार में निवेशकों का सबसे बड़ा समूह शामिल है।

• सेबी पंजीकृत विदेशी पोर्टफोलियो फंड 56 देशों के माध्यम से भारत में निवेश करते हैं। इनमें से 25 को अब 'उच्च जोखिम' माना जाता है।

9. भारतीय खेल प्राधिकरण का नाम अब स्पॉर्ट्स इंडिया होगा 

केंद्रीय खेल मंत्री राज्यवर्धन सिंह राठौर ने घोषणा की कि अस्तित्व में आने के 34 से अधिक वर्षों बाद, अब भारतीय खेल प्राधिकरण (एसएआई) का नाम स्पॉर्ट्स इंडिया के रूप में बदल दिया जाएगा।

• 1984 में स्थापित स्पोर्ट्स बॉडी ने अपनी 50 वीं शासी निकाय की बैठक आयोजित की, जहां यह भी निर्णय लिया गया कि निर्णय लेने में कोच को महत्व दिया जायेगा और एथलीटों के खाद्य खर्च में भी वृद्धि होगी।
