1. World Population Day: 11 July

World Population day is an annual event, observed on July 11 every year, which seeks to raise awareness of global population issues.

• The event was established by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme in 1989.
• World Population Day 2018 observes the theme, "Family planning is a human right."

2. India climbs 3 spots to 57th in global innovation rankings

The Global Innovation Index (GII) has ranked India as the 57thmost innovative nation in the world.

• The country has improved its ranking from 60th position last year.
• India has been improving steadily since it was ranked 81st in 2015.
• Switzerland ranked for 8th straight year.

3. Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu becomes first Chairman of Rajya Sabha to sign an MOU

Rajya Sabha has, for the first time in 76 years since it came into being, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a foreign counterpart for promoting inter-parliamentary dialogue.

• Shri Venkaiah Naidu, has, in the process, become the first Chairman of Rajya Sabha to sign such an agreement when he inked an MOU with the visiting President of the Senate of the Republic of Rwanda, Mr. Bernard Makuza.
• The MOU with 6 articles of cooperation seeks to promote Inter-Parliamentary dialogue, Capacity building of parliamentary staff, Organisation of conferences, forums, seminars, staff attachment programmes, workshops and exchanges, Collaboration in mutual interest in regional and international multilateral parliamentary bodies in furtherance of bilateral relations and friendship between the two countries.

4. 4th National Conclave on Mines and Minerals

The 4th National Conclave on Mines & Minerals will be held on 13th July, 2018 at Indorefor showcasing blocks which will be auctioned by the states in FY 2018-19 to the potential investors.

• Union Minister for Mines Shri Narendra Singh Tomar said that it will carry forward the efforts of the Government for strengthening the mineral auction regime as well as help in expediting auctions and bring in greater participation from the stakeholders.

5. Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Haryana Top Rankers in Ease of Doing Business

Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, released the final rankings of States in Ease of Doing Business in New Delhi.

• The top rankers are Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Haryana. Jharkhand and Gujarat stood fourth and fifth respectively.
• DIPP, Ministry of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the World Bank conducted an annual reform exercise for all States and UTs under the Business Reform Action Plan (BRAP).
• The aim of this exercise is to improve delivery of various Central Government regulatory functions and services in an efficient, effective and transparent manner.
• Rajasthan has slipped by one spot in the ease of doing business rankings to 9th position.

6. Shri Ananthkumar inaugurates CIPET: Centre for Skilling & Technical Support (CSTS)

Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Ananthkumar inaugurated the CIPET:  Centre for Skilling & Technical Support (CSTS) at ITI Building and laid the foundation stone of new Central Institute of Plastics Engineering &Technology (CIPET) Building at Doiwala, Dehradun.

• Other dignitaries who graced the event as guests of honour included Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat, and Member of Parliament, Haridwar, Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.
• CIPET: CSTS, Dehradun is the 32nd CIPET centre in the country.

7. India-Korea Technology Exchange Centre Inaugurated

The India-Korea Technology Exchange Centre was Inaugurated by the Minister of State (I/C) MSME Giriraj Singh and Minister of SMEs and Start-ups of Republic of Korea, Hong Jong- hak in New Delhi.

• Speaking on this occasion,Giriraj Singh said that the purpose of the Technology Exchange Centre is to create a platform for micro, small and medium enterprises of India and Korea where they can be assisted to identify and exchange latest technologies, share management expertise, product development and technology applications for product development.
• The MSME Minister further said that the Technology Centre will also work towards building reliable alliances in Space, Solar Energy, Nano technologies and some other upcoming technologies.
• He said that a number of Korean organizations have showed keen interest to initiate technology transfers in MSME sectors between the two countries and this Centre will provide them reliable partners for effecting   business alliances.

8. Microsoft signs MoU with Raj govt for digital training to 9,500 students

Microsoft has signed an MoU with the Rajasthan government to provide free digital training to 9,500 college students in one year.

• The initiative was taken for the enhancement of digital learning and capacity building of college students in the state.
• The state few months back had signed MoU with IGNOU for nearly two dozen courses on skill development.

9. T Latha appointed new MD & CEO of Dhanlaxmi Bank

Dhanlaxmi Bank Limited has appointed T Latha as the Managing Director & CEO.

• She has taken over from G Sreeram, who has retired from the office on July 1, 2018, on completion of his tenure.
• Her appointment will be for a period of three years w.e.f July 2, 2018.

10. Vice President Releases the book ‘Two Classical Plays from India’

 

The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has said that there is a need to revive Theatre and make it a prominent form of education and entertainment.

• He was addressing the gathering after releasing the book ‘Two Classical Plays from India’, an English translation of Hindi plays written by well-known playwright Shri D.P. Sinha.

1. आईएससीएफ और आईएससीआई कार्यक्रम लांच किए गए

आवास एवं शहरी मामलों के मंत्रालय में राज्‍य मंत्री (स्‍वतंत्र प्रभार) श्री हरदीप एस. पुरी ने कहा है कि स्‍मार्ट सिटीज फेलोशिप और इंटर्नशिप कार्यक्रम से युवाओं को शहरी नियोजन एवं गवर्नेंस के विभिन्‍न पहलुओं का अनुभव करने का अवसर प्राप्‍त होगा।

• स्‍मार्ट सिटी डिजिटल भुगतान पुरस्‍कार के शुभारंभ की घोषणा करते हुए श्री पुरी ने कहा कि इसका उद्देश्‍य डिजिटल भुगतान को बढ़ावा देने के साथ-साथ अभिनव डिजिटल भुगतान पहलों को अपनाने के लिए स्‍मार्ट सिटीज को प्रोत्‍साहित करके ‘डिजिटल इंडिया’ को बढ़ावा देना और भारत के शहरी निवासियों के जीवन को सरल बनाना है।
• श्री पुरी ने ‘अमृत’ और ‘स्‍मार्ट सिटी मिशन’ के तहत अनेक नई पहलों का शुभारंभ किया।
• इनमें इंडिया स्‍मार्ट सिटीज फेलोशिप (आईएससीएफ) कार्यक्रम, इंडिया स्‍मार्ट सिटीज इंटर्नशिप (आईएससीआई) कार्यक्रम और स्‍मार्ट सिटीज डिजिटल भुगतान पुरस्‍कार 2018 तथा स्‍मार्ट सिटी मिशन के तहत ‘सिटीज’ चैलेंज शामिल हैं।  वहीं, ‘अमृत’ के तहत प्रायोगिक आधार पर 25 शहरों में स्‍थानीय क्षेत्र योजना (लैप)/शहरी नियोजन योजना (टीपीएस) क्रियान्वित की जाएगी।
• इंडिया स्‍मार्ट सिटीज फेलोशिप (आईएससीएफ) कार्यक्रम का उद्देश्‍य विशेषकर स्‍मार्ट सिटी और सामान्‍य रूप से शहरी नवीकरण क्षेत्र में इच्‍छुक युवाओं को मूल्‍यवान अनुभव प्रदान करना है।

2. प्रधानमंत्री मोदी और दक्षिण कोरिया के राष्‍ट्रपति ने नोएडा में मोबाइल उत्‍पादन यूनिट काउद्घाटन किया

प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्‍द्र मोदी और कोरिया गणराज्‍य के राष्‍ट्रपति श्री मून जेई-इन ने आज नोएडा में सैमसंग इंडिया इलेक्‍ट्रॉनिक्‍स प्राइवेट लिमिटेड की एक विशाल मोबाइल उत्‍पादन यूनिट का उद्घाटन किया।

• इस अवसर पर प्रधानमंत्री ने इसे भारत को एक वैश्विक विनिर्माण हब (केन्‍द) बनाने की यात्रा में एक विशेष मौका बताया।
• उ‍न्‍होंने कहा कि लगभग 5000 करोड़ रुपये के निवेश से न केवल भारत के साथ सैमसंग के कारोबारी संबंध सुदृढ़ होंगे, बल्कि यह भारत और कोरिया के बीच संबंधों के संदर्भ में भी अत्‍यंत महत्‍वपूर्ण है।

3. सरकार ने 6 शैक्षणिक ‘उत्‍कृष्‍ट संस्‍थान’ घोषित किए

सरकार ने 6 उत्‍कृष्‍ट संस्‍थानों का चयन किया है, जिनमें से 3 संस्‍थान सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के और 3 संस्‍थान निजी क्षेत्र के हैं।

• एक उच्‍चाधिकार प्राप्‍त समिति (ईईसी) ने अपनी रिपोर्ट में 6 संस्‍थानों (3 संस्‍थान सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र से और 3 संस्‍थान निजी क्षेत्र से) का चयन ‘उत्‍कृष्‍ट संस्‍थानों’ के रूप में करने की सिफारिश की थी।

इन संस्‍थानों का विवरण नीचे दिया गया है –

• सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र : (i) भारतीय विज्ञान संस्थान, बेंगलुरू, कर्नाटक (ii) भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान, मुंबई, महाराष्ट्र और (iii) भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान, दिल्ली।
• निजी क्षेत्र : (i) जियो इंस्टीट्यूट (रिलायंस फाउंडेशन) पुणे, ग्रीन फील्ड श्रेणी के तहत (ii) बिड़ला इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ टेक्नोलॉजी एंड साइंसेज, पिलानी, राजस्थान; और (iii) मणिपाल एकेडमी ऑफ हायर एजुकेशन, मणिपाल, कर्नाटक।

4. भारतीय रेलवे ने प्रथम डबल स्‍टैक ड्वार्फ कंटेनर सेवा का शुभारंभ किया

वित्‍त, कॉरपोरेट मामले, रेल और कोयला मंत्री श्री पीयूष गोयल के मार्गदर्शन में भारतीय रेलवे ने ‘डबल स्‍टैक ड्वार्फ कंटेनर’ सेवाओं का शुभारंभ किया है, जिसका उद्देश्‍य घरेलू कारगो के लिए नये डिलीवरी मॉडल के जरिए यातायात के उस स्‍तर को फिर से हासिल करना है, जिसमें विगत वर्षों के दौरान कमी देखने को मिली थी।

• माल ढुलाई (फ्रेट) करने वाली इस ट्रेन को 07 जुलाई, 2018 को पश्चिमी रेलवे के राजकोट रेलवे स्‍टेशन से उसके प्रथम वाणिज्यिक परिचालन के दौरान झंडी दिखाकर रवाना किया गया।
• इस ट्रेन की बुकिंग कनालुस स्थित रिलायंस रेल साइडिंग से लेकर हरियाणा राज्‍य के रेवाड़ी तक के लिए की गई थी। यह 82 कंटेनर पॉलीप्रोपिलीन ग्रैन्यूल्‍स से भरी हुई थी।
• ‘डबल स्‍टैक ड्वार्फ कंटेनर’ सेवा से भारतीय रेलवे को 18.50 लाख रुपये का बढ़ा हुआ राजस्‍व प्राप्‍त हुआ है।

5. गृह मंत्री ने शिलांग में पूर्वोत्तर परिषद के 67वें पूर्ण अधिवेशन की अध्यक्षता की  

केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री श्री राजनाथ सिंह ने पूर्वोत्तर राज्यों को पूर्वोत्तर परिषद (एनईसी) की लंबित परियोजनाओं पर तेजी से काम करने तथा धनराशि का अधिकतम उपयोग सुनिश्चित करने के लिए कहा है।

• शिलोंग में एनईसी के 67वें पूर्ण अधिवेशन को संबोधित करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि एनईसी और पूर्वोत्तर राज्यों को यह सुनिश्चित करना चाहिए कि सभी लंबित परियोजनाएं समयबद्ध तरीके से पूरी हों।
• गृह मंत्री ने हाल ही में केंद्र सरकार द्वारा जारी 4500 करोड़ रुपये की धनराशि का अधिकतम उपयोग सुनिश्चित करने का आग्रह किया। उन्होंने कहा कि पूर्वोत्तर क्षेत्र में सिविल सोसाइटी बहुत शक्तिशाली माध्यम है और सभी विकास कार्यक्रमों में इन्हें जोड़ा जाना चाहिए।

6. संस्कृति मंत्रालय नई दिल्ली में पहले ‘भारत पर्यटन मार्ट’ का आयोजन करेगा

केंद्रीय पर्यटन राज्य मंत्री (स्वतंत्र प्रभार) श्री के. जे. अल्फोंस ने घोषणा करते हुए कहा कि राज्य/ केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों तथा भारतीय पर्यटन व अतिथि सत्कार परिसंघ (एफएआईटीएच) के सहयोग से पर्यटन मंत्रालय 16 से 18 सितंबर, 2018 तक नई दिल्ली के विज्ञान भवन में  ‘भारत पर्यटन मार्ट’ (आईटीएम) का आयोजन करेगा।

• विश्व के अन्य देशों में आयोजित होने वाले पर्यटन मार्ट को ध्यान में रखते हुए ‘भारत पर्यटन मार्ट’ का आयोजन किया जा रहा है।
• इस आयोजन से पर्यटन व अतिथि सत्कार से जुड़े सभी हितधारकों को विचार-विमर्श करने का मौका मिलेगा और उन्हें व्यापार से जुड़े अवसरों की जानकारी मिलेगी।

7. शहाबाद-भोजपुर क्षेत्र के सोन नहर प्रणाली के पक्‍कीकरण प्रोजेक्‍ट को एडीबी की मंजूरी

विद्युत तथा नवीन और नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा राज्य मंत्री (स्वतंत्र प्रभार) श्री आर.के. सिंह ने दिल्‍ली में अपने कार्यालय में बिहार केशहाबाद-भोजपुरक्षेत्र के सोन नहर प्रणाली के पक्‍कीकरणप्रोजेक्‍ट की प्रगति की समीक्षा हेतु एशियाई विकास बैंक (एडीबी) के अधिकारियों एवं वित्‍त मंत्रालय के अधिकारियों के साथ बैठक की।

• बैठक में एडीबी के प्रतिनिधियों ने बताया कि एडीबी ने इस प्रोजेक्‍ट को मंजूरी दे दी है।
• श्री आर.के. सिंह ने एडीबी के प्रतिनिधियों एवं वित्त मंत्रालय के अधिकारियों से कहा कि परियोजना के विभिन्‍न चरणों को संपन्‍न करने हेतु समय सीमा तय की जानी चाहिए।
• बैठक में तय हुआ कि वित्‍त मंत्रालय का आर्थिक कार्य विभाग 17 जुलाई, 2018 तक कंसलटेंट बहाल करने के लिए स्‍वीकृति दे देगा एवं एडीबी के कंसलटेंट जुलाई के अंत तक अपना काम शुरू कर देंगे।
• गौरतलब है कि 503 मिलियन डालर (3272.49 करोड़ रुपए) की संभावित लागत की परियोजना में एडीबी द्वारा 352 मिलियन डालर की सहायता प्रदान की जा रही है।

8. अभिनेता कवि कुमार आजाद का 46 वर्ष की उम्र में निधन

अभिनेता कवि कुमार आजाद, जो लोकप्रिय सिटकॉम "तारक मेहता का उल्टा चश्मा" में डॉ हंसराज हाथी के किरदार  के लिए जाने जाते हैं, का दिल का दौरा पडने से निधन हो गया हैं

• आज़ाद ने अभिनेता निर्मल सोनी की जगह डॉ हाथी का किरदार निभाया, जिन्होंने शो की शुरुआत के बाद से एक साल तक यह भूमिका निभाई थी।

1. ISCF and ISCI Program Launched

Sh. Hardeep S Puri, MoS(I/C), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has stated that Smart cities fellowship and internship program will provide the youth an opportunity to experience the aspects of Urban planning and governance.

• Announcing the launch of the Smart cities digital payment award, Sh. Puri said that it is intended to promote ‘Digital India’ and ease of living for India’s urban residents by promoting digital payments and encouraging Smart Cities to adopt innovative digital payments initiatives.
• Sh. Puri launched several new initiatives under AMRUT and the Smart Cities Mission.
• These include the India Smart Cities Fellowship (ISCF) Program, India Smart Cities Internship (ISCI) Program and The Smart Cities Digital Payments Awards 2018 and the ‘CITIIS’ challenge under the Smart Cities Mission and the Local Area Plan (LAP)/Town Planning Scheme (TPS) to be implemented in 25 cities on pilot basis under AMRUT.
• The India Smart Cities Fellowship Program is designed to provide valuable experience to the youth interested in smart cities specifically

2. PM, Korean President, inaugurate mobile manufacturing facility in Noida

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, and the President of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Moon Jae-in, today jointly inaugurated a large mobile manufacturing facility of Samsung India Electronics Pvt. Ltd, at Noida.

• Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister described the occasion as a special one, in the journey to make India a global manufacturing hub.
• He said the investment of about Rs. 5000 crore, would not only strengthen Samsung’s business links with India, but is also significant in the context of the relationship between India and Korea.

3. Government declares 6 educational ‘Institutions of Eminence

The Government has shortlisted Six Institutions of Eminence (IoEs)  including 3 from Public Sector and 3 from Private Sector.

• An Empowered Expert Committee (EEC) in its report recommended selection of 6 institutions (3 from public sector and 3 from private sector) as Institutions of Eminence.

The details of these Institutions are as under:

• Public Sector: (i) Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Karnataka; (ii) Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, Maharashtra; and (iii) Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
• Private Sector: (i) Jio Institute (Reliance Foundation), Pune under Green Field Category; (ii) Birla Institute of Technology & Sciences, Pilani, Rajasthan; and (iii) Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, Karnataka.

4. Indian Railways Introduces First Double Stack Dwarf Container Service

Under the guidance of Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Finance, Corporate Affairs, Railways and Coal, in order to capture the lost traffic through new delivery model for domestic cargo, Indian Railways has introduced Double Stack Dwarf Container Services.

• This freight train was flagged off on 7th July, 2018 from Western Railway’s Rajkot railway station on its maiden commercial run. 
• This train was booked from the Reliance Rail Siding at Kanalus to Rewari in the state of Haryana; it was loaded with 82 containers Polypropylene Granules.
• Due to this Double Stacked Dwarf Container service, Indian Railways has received increased revenue of Rs. 18.50 lakhs.

5. HM chairs the 67th Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council in Shillong

 

The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh has asked the North-Eastern states to expedite work on long pending projects of the North Eastern Council (NEC) and ensure maximum utilisation of funds.

• Addressing the 67th Plenary Session of the NEC in Shillong today, he said NEC and the eight North-Eastern States would have to ensure that all the ongoing projects were completed in a time bound manner.
• HM urged the states for effective implementation of the recently approved financial package of Rs 4,500 crore by the Centre and directed them to focus on specific areas and better convergence of the govt. sponsored schemes.

6. First ever ‘India Tourism Mart’ to be hosted in New Delhi

The Minister of State (I/C) for Tourism, Shri. K. J. Alphons announced that the Tourism Ministry in partnership with the  Federation of Associations in  Indian  Tourism and  Hospitality  (FAITH)  and with the support of State /UT Governments  will organize  the  ‘first ever’ India  Tourism  Mart (ITM)  from  16th  to  18th September, 2018  at  Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

• The objective  of  the event  is  to  create  an annual Global  Tourism  Mart  for  India  in line with  major  international  travel  marts  being  held  in  countries   across  the world.
• The Mart  will   provide  a  platform  for  all stakeholders  in the  tourism  and hospitality industries  to  interact  and   transact  business  opportunities. 

7. ADB accords approval for lining project of the Son canal in Shahabad – Bhojpur region

 

Union Minister of State (IC) for Power and New & Renewable Energy Shri R.K Singh took a meeting with the officials from ADB and Finance Ministry to review the progress of  lining project of the Son canal in Shahabad – Bhojpur region of Bihar.

• During the meeting ADB representatives informed that ADB had accorded approval for this project.
• Shri RK Singh asked the ADB and Finance Ministry officials to fix a timeframe for the completion of the project.
• It was agreed during the meeting that Finance Ministry will give permission to appoint consultants by 17th July, 2018 and ADB consultants will start their work by the end of July.
• It may be noted that the estimated cost of this project is USD 503 million (Rs 3272.49 crore) out of which USD 352 million is being provided by ADB.

8. Actor Kavi Kumar Azad passes away at 46

Actor Kavi Kumar Azaad, known for playing the character of Dr Hansraaj Hathi on popular sitcom “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma”, passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest.

• Azaad replaced actor Nirmal Soni as Dr Hathi, who played the role for a year since the show's inception, in 2009.

1. प्रकाश जावड़ेकर 17वें विश्व संस्कृत सम्मेलन का उद्घाटन करेंगे

केंद्रीय मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्री श्री प्रकाश जावड़ेकर कनाडा के वैंकूवर में 9 जुलाई से 13 जुलाई, 2018 तक आयोजित होने वाले 17वें विश्व संस्कृत सम्मेलन का उद्घाटन करेंगे।

• इस सम्मेलन में 500 से अधिक विद्वान एवं 40 से अधिक देशों के शिष्टमंडल भाग लेंगे तथा विभिन्न विषयों पर शोध पत्र प्रस्तुत करने के द्वारा अपने ज्ञान का आदान प्रदान करेंगे।
• इतिहास एवं वैदिक साहित्य में महिलाओं की शिक्षा, संस्कृत बौद्ध धर्म मनुस्मृति, योगशाला से आगे मीमांशा, युक्तिदीपिका का सांख्य के लिए स्थान गढ़ना, भागवत पुराण टिप्पणीकारों को प्रस्तुत करना, गार्गीयाज्योतिष पर अनुसंधान जैसे एक दर्जन से अधिक विषयों पर एक विशेष पैनल चर्चा की जाएगी।

2. प्रधानमंत्री आवास योजना (शहरी) के कार्यान्वयन के तीन वर्षों के भीतर 51 लाख घरों कोअनुमोदन

प्रधानमंत्री आवास योजना (शहरी) के कार्यान्वयन के तीन वर्षों के भीतर करोड़ घरों की वैधीकृत मांग के मुकाबले 51 लाख रिहाइशी इकाइयों को स्वीकृति दी गई है।

• यह पहले की आवास योजना के मुकाबले एक बड़ी छलांग है जिनमें कार्यान्वयन के नौ वर्षों के भीतर केवल 12.4 लाख घरों को अनुमोदित किया गया।
• 51 लाख अनुमोदित घरों में से 28 लाख घरों का नींव से संबंधित कार्य संपन्न हो चुका है और वे पूर्णता के विभिन्न चरणों में हैं।
• इसके अतिरिक्त, 8 लाख से अधिक घर बन कर पहले से तैयार हो चुके हैं और लगभग 8 लाख घरों में लाभार्थियों ने रहना आरंभ भी कर दिया है।
• भारत सरकार मिशन की अवधि 2022 के आखिर तक ‘सभी के लिए आवास‘ उपलब्ध कराने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है।  

3. आरबीआई ने अलवर शहरी सहकारी बैंक का लाइसेंस रद्द किया

भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने कहा कि राजस्थान के अलवर में अलवर शहरी सहकारी बैंक का लाइसेंस रद्द कर दिया गया है क्योंकि यह अन्य कारणों के साथ ही अपने जमाकर्ताओं को पूरी तरह से भुगतान करने की स्थिति में नहीं है।

• आरबीआई ने कहा कि बैंक की मौजूदा वित्तीय स्थिति इसके पुनरुत्थान के लिए कोई गुंजाइश नहीं छोड़ती है, और कहा कि लाइसेंस रद्द करना 5 जुलाई को कारोबार के बंद होने से प्रभावी है।

4. सीजीएफ एएसी में एशिया का प्रतिनिधित्व करेंगी दीपिका पल्लीकल

स्क्वाश खिलाड़ी दीपिका पल्लीकल को राष्ट्रमंडल खेल संघ (सीजीएफ) के प्रतिष्ठित एथलीट सलाहकार आयोग में एशिया के प्रतिनिधि के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है।

• नियुक्ति सीजीएफ द्वारा की गई है।
• अगस्त 2017 में सीजीएफ एथलीट सलाहकार आयोग का प्रस्ताव दिया गया था।
• प्रत्येक महाद्वीप का प्रतिनिधित्व CGFAAC में एक एथलीट द्वारा किया जाता है।

5. उदय कुमार वर्मा बीसीसीसी सदस्य नियुक्त

पूर्व सूचना एवं प्रसारण सचिव उदय कुमार वर्मा को प्रसारण सामग्री शिकायत परिषद का सदस्य नियुक्त किया गया है,

• सामान्य मनोरंजन चैनलों के लिए बीसीसीसी स्वयं नियामक निकाय है।
• मध्य प्रदेश कैडर से 1976 बैच के पूर्व आईएएस अधिकारी वर्मा ने परिषद की हाल की बैठक में भाग लिया।

6. 'द इंग्लिश पैशेंट' 50 वर्षों में सर्वश्रेष्ठ मैन बुकर पुरस्कार विजेता

प्रतिष्ठित साहित्यिक पुरस्कार के पांच दशकों का जश्न मनाते हुए माइकल ओन्डाटजे के 'द इंग्लिश पैशेंट' को मैन बुकर पुरस्कार का अब तक का सर्वश्रेष्ठ विजेता नामित किया गया।

• 'द इंग्लिश पैशेंट' ने 1992 में बुकर जीता और इस पर राल्फ फिएन्स और जूलियट बिनोच अभिनीत 1996 की फिल्म बनाई गई, जिसने नौ अकादमी पुरस्कार जीते।

7. जिम्नास्टिक विश्वकप में दीपा कर्माकर ने स्वर्ण जीता

चोट के कारण लगभग दो वर्षों की लंबी अवधि के बाद लौटने के बाद, भारत की प्रमुख जिमनास्ट दीपा कर्माकर ने तुर्की के मेर्सिन में एफआईजी आर्टिस्टिक जिमनास्टिक वर्ल्ड चैलेंज कप के वॉल्ट इवेंट में स्वर्ण पदक जीता।

• त्रिपुरा की 24 वर्षीय दीपा, जो 2016 के रियो ओलंपिक में चौथे स्थान पर रही, ने यहां स्वर्ण जीतने के लिए 14.150 का स्कोर बनाया।
• वह 13.400 के स्कोर के साथ क्वालिफिकेशन में सबसे ऊपर रही।
• विश्व चैलेंज कप में दीपा का यह पहला पदक है।

8. मेघालय के पूर्व राज्यपाल एम एम जैकब का निधन

वरिष्ठ कांग्रेस नेता और मेघालय के पूर्व एम एम जैकब का उम्र से संबंधित बीमारियों के कारण निधन हो गया है। वह 90 वर्ष के थे।

• पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री जैकब ने 80 के दशक में राज्य सभा के उप सभापति के रूप में भी कार्य किया था।
• जैकब ने केरल राज्य कांग्रेस कमेटी के महासचिव और खजांची व केरल राज्य सेवा दल बोर्ड के अध्यक्ष और कई वर्षों तक एआईसीसी के निर्वाचित सदस्य के रूप में कार्य किया था।
