1. World Music Day: 21 June

World Music Day is an annual music celebration that takes place on 21 June.

• On Music Day the citizens of a city or country are allowed and urged to play music outside in their neighborhoods or in public spaces and parks.
• The first all-day musical celebration was originated by the France.

2. International Day of Yoga: 21 June

International Day of Yoga, or commonly and unofficially referred to as Yoga Day, is celebrated annually on 21 June since its inception in 2015.

• An international day for yoga was declared unanimously by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
• Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice originated in India.
• The theme for Yoga Day 2018 is "Yoga for Peace."

3. CEA Arvind Subramanian resigned

Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) Arvind Subramanian has submitted his resignation and expressed his desire to return to the United States due to family commitments, Union Minister Arun Jaitley announced.

• Mr. Subramanian started his term as CEA on October 16, 2014 for a term of three years.
• On the completion of three years, he was asked to continue for a year more, which would have taken his term to October 2018.

4. 19th all India Conference of Directors of Finger Prints Bureaux

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir will inaugurate the 19th all India Conference of Directors of Finger Prints Bureaux in Hyderabad.

• During the two-day conference, participants will deliberate on latest Automatic Fingerprint Identification Systems (AFIS).
• In the conference issues related to administration, standard operating procedures for uniform functioning of bureaus would also be deliberated.

5. Shillong gets selected as the 100th Smart City

Shillong, the capital city of Meghalaya has been selected as 100th Smart City after evaluating the proposal submitted by it.

• Till now, 99 smart cities had been selected in four rounds of competition and with today’s announcement, selection of 100 cities has been completed under the Smart Cities Mission.
• Previously, 20 cities were selected in January 2016, 13 cities in May 2016, 27 cities in September 2016, 30 cities in June 2017 and 9 cities in January 2018. 
• With the selection of Shillong, the total proposed investment in the finally selected 100 cities under the Smart Cities Mission would be Rs.2,05,018 crores.

6. KVIC adopts Jagatpur village in Delhi for Swachhata Abhiyaan

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has adopted Jagatpur village in Delhi for its Swachhata Abhiyaan.

• The sanitation drive by KVIC began with a plantation drive and ended with cleanliness drive along the bank of the Yamuna river.

7. RK Singh inaugurates solar plant at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib

India is making rapid strides in the field of renewable energy and we will overshoot the target of 175 GW renewable energy by 2022.” said Shri R.K Singh, Minister of State(IC) for Power and New & Renewable Energy.

• He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the inauguration of 1500 kWP capacity solar plant developed by Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) at the Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib.
• Lauding this noble initiative by DSGMC, Shri Singh said that this would inspire other institutions to go green and become environment conscious.
• He said that 20 cities in India are ranked among the most polluted in the world and there is an urgent need to reduce fossil fuel use so that we leave a better world for our children.
• The Minister reiterated the Government’s commitment to bring electricity to every household by 31st December, 2018.

8. PM’s Award for Outstanding Contribution for Promotion and Development of Yoga

 

Shri Vishwas Mandalik, Nasik and The Yoga Institute, Mumbai are the recipients of the Prime Minister's Award for outstanding contribution for promotion and development of Yoga for the year 2018.

• The selection was done from among 186 nominations received under different categories.
• On the occasion of the 2nd International Day of Yoga celebrations at Chandigarh on 21st June, 2016, the Hon’ble Prime Minister had announced the institution of awards for the promotion and development of Yoga.
• The award for 2017 was won by Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute, Pune.

9. India Smart Cities Awards

Nine awards in three categories, i.e., Project Award, Innovative Idea Award and City Award have been announced under the India Smart Cities Awards, which was launched on June 25, 2017 by Hon’ble Housing and Urban Affairs Minister.

• The city award is being given to Surat for showing great momentum in implementation of projects especially in the categories of urban environment, transport and mobility and sustainable integrated development.
• The Innovative Idea award is being given to a project/idea particularly remarkable for its innovative, bottom-up and transformative approach towards achievement of sustainable integrated development. Joint winners in this category are Bhopal for their Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) and Ahmedabad for Safe and Secure Ahmedabad (SASA) Project.
• The Project awards are being given to most innovative and successful projects in seven categories that have been completed by April 1, 2018.

• Smart Place Making from Pune under ‘Built Environment’,

10. Vice President receives the Book ‘Vedvigyan Alok’

The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has received the book "Vedvigyan Alok" (Maharishi Aitareya Mahidas Praneet - Aitareya Brahmina ki Vaigyanik Vyakhya) authored by Acharya Agnivarat Naishthik.

• The book is divided into four broad volumes.
• The Book Vedvigyan Alok is the scriptural verse in Vedas' prose.

कर्मचारी भविष्य निधि संगठन (ईपीएफओ), जो अपने हितधारकों के लिए कई ई-सेवाएं प्रदान कर रहा है, ने अब 'उमंग ऐप' के माध्यम से एक नई सेवा शुरू की है।

• 'पासबुक देखें' विकल्प पर क्लिक करने के लिए, उसे पीपीओ संख्या और पेंशनभोगी द्वारा दर्ज की जाने वाली जन्मतिथि की तारीख की आवश्यकता होती है।

5. एआईबी के भविष्य, लचीला और डिजिटल बुनियादी ढांचे पर चौथा क्षेत्रीय सम्मेलन

 

वित्त मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार के भारतीय उद्योग परिसंघ (सीआईआई) के सहयोग से, और विकासशील देशों के अनुसंधान और सूचना प्रणाली (आरआईएस) ने बेंगलुरु में भविष्यवादी, लचीला और डिजिटल बुनियादी ढांचे पर चौथा क्षेत्रीय सम्मेलन का आयोजन किया।

• 2 दिवसीय सम्मेलन मुंबई में 25 और 26 जून 2018 को भारत सरकार द्वारा आयोजित एशियाई इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर इंवेस्टमेंट बैंक (एआईआईबी) की तीसरी वार्षिक बैठक का नेतृत्व है।
• इस सम्मेलन में साझेदार संस्थानों, अकादमिक, नागरिक समाज संगठनों और विभिन्न क्षेत्रों के विशेषज्ञों का प्रतिनिधित्व करने वाले प्रतिष्ठित प्रतिनिधियों ने भारत में भविष्य और डिजिटल बुनियादी ढांचे के लिए संस्थागत दृष्टिकोण लाने के तरीके पर अपने विचार व्यक्त किए।

6. एशियाई विकास बैंक की 51 वीं वार्षिक बैठक

 

आर्थिक मामलों के विभाग, वित्त मंत्रालय के सचिव श्री सुभाष चंद्र गर्ग की अध्यक्षता में एक भारतीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल वर्तमान में एशियाई विकास बैंक की 51 वीं वार्षिक बैठक में भाग लेने के लिए मनीला के दौरे पर है।

• मनीला में एशियाई विकास बैंक (एडीबी) की 51 वीं वार्षिक बैठक के दौरान श्री गर्ग ने नीयू के प्रीमियर, सर टोक तालागी के साथ द्विपक्षीय बैठक आयोजित की।
• नीयू के प्रीमियर ने एडीबी की सदस्यता के लिए अपनी बोली के लिए भारत का समर्थन मांगा।
• भारतीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने नॉर्डिक देशों के आधिकारिक प्रतिनिधिमंडल, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय विकास (ओएफआईडी), फ्रेंच, ब्रिटिश, यूएस और ईआईबी प्रतिनिधिमंडलों के ओपेक फंड के साथ द्विपक्षीय बैठकें भी आयोजित कीं।

7. अशोक लाहिरी ने 15 वें वित्त आयोग के पूर्णकालिक सदस्य नियुक्त किए

कार्मिक मंत्रालय द्वारा जारी आदेश के अनुसार, पूर्व मुख्य आर्थिक सलाहकार अशोक लाहिरी को 15 वें वित्त आयोग के पूर्णकालिक सदस्य नियुक्त किया गया है।

• आदेश में कहा गया है कि कैबिनेट की नियुक्ति समिति ने लाहिरी की पूर्णकालिक सदस्य के रूप में नियुक्ति को मंजूरी दे दी है।
• उन्होंने कहा कि उन्हें राज्य मंत्री की स्थिति दी जाएगी।

रविंदर शर्मा, जिसे अजीलाबाद के कला आश्रम के संस्थापक गुरुजी कहते हैं, 65 साल की उम्र में उनके घर पर निधन हो गए।

• गुरुजी पिछले तीन सालों से कैंसर से पीड़ित थे और उनकी नींद में मृत्यु हो गई थी।
• 2014 में आंध्र प्रदेश राज्य सरकार द्वारा प्रशिक्षित कलाकार गुरुजी को कला रत्न से सम्मानित किया गया था।
• राज्य के विभाजन के बाद, तेलंगाना सरकार ने उन्हें 2015 में उगादी पुरस्कारकार से सम्मानित किया।

1. World Press Freedom Day: 3 May

World Press Freedom Day was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in December 1993, following the recommendation of UNESCO’s General Conference.

• Since then, 3 May, the anniversary of the Declaration of Windhoek, is celebrated worldwide as World Press Freedom Day.
• Theme for the year 2018 is ‘Keeping Power in Check: Media, Justice and The Rule of Law’.

2. Vibrant Northeast in Guwahati from May 3

The ‘Vibrant North East 2018′, an event in which people would be made aware of central government’s schemes and programmes, will be held in Guwahati from 3-5 May.

• Players from the agriculture, food processing, consumer affairs, civil supply, drinking water and sanitation sectors will participate in the three-day event.
• Organised by Delhi-based NGO, Centre for Agriculture and Rural Development (CARD), the ‘Vibrant North East 2018′ is supported by the North Eastern Council, Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and All India Farmers Alliance.

3. Maharashtra first to issue land document online

Maharashtra has become the first state to issue a crucial land ownership document online and accept a digital signature on it as valid.

• The state government's plan of digitizing the 7/12 extract is thus complete.
• It went a step ahead and generated eight lakh documents with space for digital signatures. The facility was inaugurated by the chief minister.

4. EPFO Introduces ‘View Pension Passbook’ Service through Umang App

Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), which is providing a host of e-services for its stakeholders, has now introduced a new service through ‘UMANG app’.

• On clicking ‘View Passbook’ option, it requires PPO Number and Date of Birth information to be entered by the pensioner. 
• After successful validation of the information fed, an OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number of the pensioner. 
• On entering OTP, ‘Pensioner Passbook’ will display the details of the pensioner like Name, DOB along with last pension credited information. 
• The facility to download the financial year wise complete pass book details is also available.

5. 4th Regional Conference on Futuristic, Resilient and Digital Infrastructure of AIIB

 ​ 

The Ministry of Finance, Government of India in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) organized the 4th Regional Conference on Futuristic, Resilient and Digital Infrastructure in Bengaluru.

• The 2-day Conference is a lead-up to the 3rd Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to be hosted by the Government of India on 25th and 26th June 2018 in Mumbai.
• The Conference saw eminent delegates representing partner institutions, academia, civil society organizations and experts from various fields expressing their views on how to bring about institutional approaches for futuristic and digital infrastructure in India.

6. 51st Annual Meeting of Asian Development Bank

 

An Indian delegation headed by Shri Subhash Chandra Garg, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance is currently on a tour to Manila to attend the 51st Annual Meeting of Asian Development Bank.

• Shri Garg held bilateral meeting with the Premier of Niue, Sir Toke Talagi on the sidelines of the 51st Annual Meeting of Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Manila.
• The Premier of Niue sought India’s support for its bid for membership of ADB.
• The Indian delegation also held bilateral meetings with the official delegations of NORDIC countries, OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID), French, British, US and EIB delegations.

7. Ashok Lahiri appointed full-time member of 15th Finance Commission

Former chief economic adviser Ashok Lahiri has been appointed as full-time member of the 15th Finance Commission, according to an order issued by the Personnel Ministry.

• The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Lahiri's appointment as the full-time member, the order said.
• He will be accorded the status of the Minister of State, it said.

8. Justin Langer Appointed Australia's Head Coach In All Formats

Cricket Australia has appointed former Test opener Justin Langer as the new coach of the national cricket team.

• He replaced Darren Lehmann who resigned in the wake of the ball-tampering scandal that rocked Australian cricket team in March.
• The 47-year-old Langer, who is currently in-charge of Western Australia and Perth Scorchers, has signed a four-year deal with Australian Board.

9. Renowned artist Ravinder Sharma passes away

Ravinder Sharma, fondly called Guruji, the founder of Adilabad's Kala Ashram died at his house at the age of 65 years.

• Guruji was suffering from cancer since the last three years and died in his sleep.
• A trained artist, Guruji had been awarded with Kala Ratna by the Andhra Pradesh State government in 2014.
• After bifurcation of the State, the Telangana government awarded him the Ugadi Puraskaram in 2015.

2. लंदन में आयोजित मलेरिया शिखर सम्मेलन 2018

हाल ही में लंदन में मलेरिया शिखर सम्मेलन 2018 आयोजित किया गया था।

• 15 राष्ट्रमंडल काउंटी के नेताओं, राजकुमार वेल्स और बिल गेट्स के साथ, लंदन में इकट्ठे हुए और मलेरिया को अच्छे से हरा करने के वैश्विक प्रयासों को फिर से केंद्रित करने के लिए इकट्ठे हुए।

4. Dhvani se Sabd aur Chinh Exhibition inaugurated at NGMA, Mumbai

नेशनल गैलरी ऑफ मॉडर्न आर्ट, मुंबई में "धवानी से सबद और चिन्ह" नामक एक प्रदर्शनी का उद्घाटन किया गया।

5. मंत्रिमंडल राष्ट्रीय ग्राम स्वराज अभियान की पुनर्गठित केंद्र प्रायोजित योजना को मंजूरी दे दी है

प्रधान मंत्री की अध्यक्षता में आर्थिक मामलों की कैबिनेट कमेटी, श्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने राष्ट्रीय ग्राम स्वराज अभियान (आरजीएसए) की पुनर्गठित केंद्र प्रायोजित योजना के लिए अपनी मंजूरी दे दी।   

• यह योजना 01.04.2018 से 31.03.2022 की अवधि के दौरान रुपये की कुल लागत पर लागू की जाएगी। सेंट्रल शेयर के साथ 7255.50 करोड़ रुपये 4500 करोड़ रुपये और राज्य के हिस्से का रु। 2755.50 करोड़
• यह योजना देश के सभी राज्यों और केंद्रशासित प्रदेशों तक विस्तारित होगी और इसमें गैर-भाग IX क्षेत्रों में ग्रामीण स्थानीय सरकार के संस्थान भी शामिल होंगे, जहां पंचायत मौजूद नहीं है,
• इस योजना में केंद्रीय घटक दोनों होंगे - राष्ट्रीय स्तर की गतिविधियां "तकनीकी सहायता की राष्ट्रीय योजना", "ई-पंचायत पर मिशन मोड प्रोजेक्ट", "पंचायतों का प्रोत्साहन" और राज्य घटक - पंचायती राज संस्थानों (पीआरआई) की क्षमता निर्माण।

6. राष्ट्रीय पंचायती राज दिवसों पर 23-24 अप्रैल को दो दिवसीय त्यौहार आयोजित किया जाएगा

7. केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल बाल बलात्कारियों को मौत की सजा पर अध्यादेश को मंजूरी देता है

जम्मू-कश्मीर कथुआ में एक नाबालिग के क्रूर बलात्कार और हत्या पर अपमान के चलते, प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने अदालतों को बच्चों से बलात्कार करने के दोषी ठहराए जाने वालों को मौत की सजा का उच्चारण करने की अनुमति देने के लिए एक अध्यादेश को मंजूरी दे दी है। 12 साल की उम्र

• मंत्रिमंडल द्वारा अनुमोदित अध्यादेश महिलाओं के बलात्कार के मामले में 7 साल से 10 साल तक कारावास की कारावास के मामले में न्यूनतम दंड भी निर्धारित करता है, जो जीवन कारावास के लिए विस्तारित है।
• 16 साल से कम उम्र की लड़की के बलात्कार के मामले में, न्यूनतम सजा 10 साल से 20 साल तक बढ़ी है, जो शेष जीवन के लिए कारावास के लिए विस्तारित है, जिसका मतलब उस व्यक्ति के प्राकृतिक जीवन तक कारावास है।

8. आईओबी ने एनएसएल के साथ सूचना उपयोगिता समझौता किया
